The candidate must have completed their graduation in any discipline of interest. They need to undergo one written entrance examination and one physical fitness test.

After qualifying both a candidate has to face a medical test. Selected candidates then go through meticulous training before taking charge of the job.

Required physical fitness:-

  • Height: 165 cms for Men and 157 cms for Women
  • Weight: 50 kg for Men and 46 kg for Women
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Perfect vision
  • Flat foot, squint in eyes and knock knees not permitted

Written Test 

The aspirants need to apply for a CPO (Central Police Organization). This exam is conducted by SSC (State Selection Commission) every year.

Two papers:

Paper 1 is of 200 marks and consists of questions related to basic intelligence, numerical ability, reasoning, General Awareness.

Paper 2 is of 100 marks and consists of essay writing, precise writing, and comprehension.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

It is a physical fitness test to ensure the strength and robustness of a candidate. It comprises of 100 m race and 800 m race, Long jump and high jump for both men and women, and shot-put (only for men).

Interview

It is the end stage in the selection process. Here, the candidate’s personality traits, psyche, etiquette, mannerism, aptitude, and commitment ability towards the nation are tested. NCC cadets and sportsperson, with excellent experience, are given more preference.
