GATE 2021 Exam: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, abbreviated as GATE, is an All-India Examination conducted by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institute of Technologies at Delhi, Roorkee, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Bombay on the behalf of National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. Basically, the GATE exam is for short-listing candidates for admission to various post-graduate programs like M.Tech., M.Arch., Ph.D., etc.
The GATE exam is conducted by a different institute every year out of the IISC Bangalore and the 7 IITs (IIT Delhi is conducting the GATE Exam 2021). Every year, the notification of the GATE exam comes in September, the exam is conducted in February, and the results of the exam are announced in March.

It is an online Computer-based-exam (CBT) of 3 hours, taken by more than 10 Lakhs students all over India, and is accepted by 1,200+ colleges.
GATE 2021 Exam: Eligibility

The basic eligibility criteria to sit for the GATE 2021 are as follows:
- There is no age limit for the candidates appearing for the GATE.
- Bachelor degree holders in the departments of Engineering, Technology and Architecture or students in the final year of those programs.
- Master’s degree holders in the department of Science, Mathematics, Statistics, etc. or equivalent and those who are currently studying in the final year of such programs.
GATE Exam 2021: Important Dates
The registration panel for the GATE 2021 was open between August 31st, 2020 to September 28th,2020. Admit cards were made available on January 3rd, 2021, and the exam was held on the dates February 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th, 2021. The important dates after the exam are listed in the table below:-

GATE Exam 2021: Fee Structure
The fees for the registration in GATE exam form is as follows:
- For Males, in General, or OBC: Rs.1500.
- Females and SC, ST and PWD: Rs.750.
- For International students, residing in Dubai and Singapore: $100.
- International students in Colombo, Addis Ababa, Dhaka, and Kathmandu: $50.
