For all undergraduate courses in the US and some in Canada, you need to prepare for the SAT. For MBA courses GMAT scores are a requirement; similarly, for MS courses GRE scores are relevant. Along with all these exams, you have to choose one amongst IELTS and TOEFL Exam.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language Exam)
Students who want to move to foreign countries to study or may be to work can apply for TOEFL Exam.
TOEFL Exam Pattern:-
- Reading (60-80 minutes)
- Writing (50 minutes)
- Speaking (20 minutes)
- Listening (60-90 minutes)
How TOEFL score is calculated?
The four section scores of the TOEFL are divided as follow:

2 Types of TOEFL Tests:-
- TOEFL iBT Test is delivered via the internet and it monitors reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of the candidates and is offered 50 times a year.
- TOEFL Paper-Delivered Test, which replaced the TOEFL PBT test analyses the reading, writing, and listening skills of the candidates. Speaking skills are not taken into consideration.
Now, the question arises.. which one is better amongst IELTS and TOEFL Exam?
The answer is very simple, if you want to study/work in countries like Autralia, UK, New Zealand, etc. opt for IELTS.
And if you want to study/work in countries like US & Canada, go for TOEFL.
