  • Aspirants of any nationality can take the test.
  • Age: You can take the test if you are 13 or above. However, if you are in the age group of 13-18 years, you’ll need a permission letter from your legal guardian.
  • Academic Qualification: There is no minimum or maximum academic qualification required to take the GMAT exam. Most of the students who take this exam are undergrads.
  • Academic scores: For taking the exam, there are no criteria for minimum scores. However, these things will be considered by the B school where you would be applying for admission.

Why GMAT exam?

GMAT exam opens the door to new opportunities for you. A good GMAT score can get you a seat in the top B schools of the world. A score of 700+ out of 800 is considered good.

To score well in this exam, you must understand its pattern and syllabus and prepare yourself according to that. Being aware of the syllabus makes preparation easy and quick. With that, you also feel confident and prepared.

The GMAT exam has 4 broad sections, very similar to other management exams. These 4 sections are:

  • Analytical Writing Assessment:

You’ll be required to write an essay in English on any given topic in 30 minutes. But not only that, the candidate in the GMAT exam is required to provide reason and analysis for the given argument. In this section, you’ll be assessed based on your critical thinking and how well can you articulate and express your thoughts. This section is scored on a scale of 1-60.

  • Quantitative Reasoning:

This section concentrates on the mathematical understanding of the student. It is scored on a scale of 1-60. It consists of Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, and Geometry.

  • Verbal Reasoning:

This section tests your command of the English language and comprehension. It checks your grammatical and reasoning skills. 36 questions are to be answered in 65 minutes in this section. 

  • Integrated Reasoning:

Scored on a scale of 1-8, this section will mainly test your ability to understand and comprehend given data. It’ll include Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, Multi-Source Reasoning, and Table Analysis.

Applicants are given 3.5 hours to complete the test.

Graduate Management Admission Test Details: Mode of Examination

The GMAT exam is conducted both online and offline. You have the option of whether you want to take it online or offline.  Also, the GMAT exam is different from other exams because the level of your next question depends on how well you answered the previous question. And the level of your questions determines your overall score.

The advantage of taking the online exam is that it can be taken from the comforts of home. No need to wear a mask (given the COVID situation). You do not need to travel long distances and take exams in a relaxed and stress-free environment.

Fees of GMAT Exam

The fee for taking the exam is $250 (18,434, INR) approximately.

Number of attempts

In a lifetime, you can take the GMAT exam 8 times. In a period of 12 months, you can take this exam 5 times.
Also, if your score is 800 in the GMAT exam, which is the highest possible score, you must wait for 5 years for your next attempt.
