Assam Class 10th and 12th combined to form ASSEB

In June 2023, the merger plan was first made public. Additionally, Assam has eliminated the Class 10 board exams starting of this academic year.
The Assam government said during the most recent cabinet meeting on November 16 that the Class 10 and Class 12 boards will combine into one entity to be known as the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). As of right now, ASSEB will consist of the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) for Class 10 and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) for Class 12.

In June 2023, the merger plan was first made public. An official statement was issued announcing the decision to combine the board and the council into a single body responsible for developing, enforcing, and monitoring the standards and caliber of education in schools.

The Assam Secondary Education (Government Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023 and the Assam Secondary Education Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023 have been adopted in the meantime to facilitate the graduate and postgraduate teacher recruitment procedure.
