All About B.Ed: Bachelor of Education is a degree undertaken to take up teaching as a profession. It is a 2-year undergraduate teaching program that emphasizes the principles and methodology of teaching, however, to pursue this course one needs to have completed his/her graduation. All About B.Ed: Eligibility
- Educational Qualification: Candidates need to have completed their graduation in any stream (Science, Arts, or Commerce) from a recognized university with at least 50-55% aggregate marks at the UG level. You can also join a Bachelor of Education degree after pursuing a master’s degree in any subject.
- Age limit: No age bar in the majority of colleges. However, the minimum age required is 19 years.
B.Ed Admission Process
- Visit the official website of the institution to avail the application form.
- Fill the application form and upload the required documents.
- Either you have to appear for the Entrance Exam or wait for the merit list to be released by the college.
- Once the results of the entrance exam will be announced or the merit list will be released, selected candidates are required to appear for further documentation.
- Depending upon the cut-off admission will be provided.

After clearing Bachelor of Education, candidates also need to appear for Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs) to be recruited as teachers for classes I to VIII. These tests are mandatory for teaching jobs in Indian Government Schools.
There are two papers: Paper 1, for teacher of classes I to V, and Paper 2 for classes VI to VIII. The TET is conducted both by central and state governments in India.

- What is the difference between B.Ed and BTC? Which one is better?
Both of these courses focus on the teaching profession and are offered at the certificate level. However, BTC makes you eligible for primary teaching while Bachelor of Education allows you to pursue a career in teaching students up to the grade of 12th standard.
- Is B.Ed and B.El.Ed different from each other?
Yes, Bachelor of Education and B.El.Ed is different from each other as for pursuing Bachelor of Education you need to have a graduation degree while B.El.Ed can be pursued after 10+2.

Pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree from both private and government colleges has the same value and both are valid as long as the college holds affiliations and is recognized. But, if we look at the economic part, you can complete your course in a minimal fee from a government college as compared to a private college.

Yes, any student who has a valid UG level degree (i.e. BA, B.Com, BCA, BBA, BA LLB, etc) is eligible for the admission in Bachelor of Education course. The student must have at least 50% aggregate marks in that degree.
