ACET Exam (Actuarial Science): Eligibility | Dates | Syllabus | FAQs
ACET Exam: The Institute of Actuaries of India conducts Actuarial Common Entrance Test or ACET Exam thrice a year. ACET Admit card is released by the IAI. Those who could not appear or qualify in ACET exam can re-appear by registering for the exam again. It is a computer-based test which will consist of MCQ type questions. Candidate needs to attempt all questions within the given timeframe of 3 hours. After clearing this exam, a candidate can apply for membership in IAI and hence becomes qualified to give core actuarial exams according to the curriculum.

ACET Exam: Eligibility
- Candidates must have completed their class 12th board examination
- Candidates must have English as their main subject in class 12th.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
- Step 1 – Go to IAI website and signup
- Step 2 – Fill up the online registration form and make the payment online. Make sure all the details are correct.
- Step 3 – On successful completion of payment, you will receive an e-mail at your registered e-mail address confirming your registration and successful payment.
- Step 4 – Kindly take a printout of your ACET Online Registration Form.
- Step 5 – Take a printout of your admit card and give the exam.

ACET FEBRUARY:
- Registration starts- first week of December
- Registration closes- first week of February
- Date of exam- February end
- Date of the result- second week of March
- Last date to take membership(for appearing in June)- mid-April
ACET JUNE:
- Registration starts- mid-February
- Registration closes- mid-May
- Date of exam- mid-June
- Date of the result- second week of July
- Last date to take membership- end August
ACET SEPTEMBER:
- Registration starts- mid-July
- Registration closes- mid-August
- Date of exam- mid-September
- Date of the result- end of September
- Last date to take membership- end December
ACET Exam Pattern
- Duration of the exam is 180 minutes (3 hours)
- It is a computer-based online exam
- There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
- There are a total of 70 questions in the examination
- 45 questions- 1 mark each
- 20 questions- 2 marks each
- 5 questions- 3 marks each

The registration fee for ACET Examination is Rs.3,000/-
ACET Syllabus
There are five sections in the ACET exam:-
- MATHEMATICS (30 Marks)- notation and standard functions, numerical methods, algebra, differentiation, integration, vectors and matrixes
- STATISTICS (30 Marks)- permutation and combination, types of data, measures of spread, measures of dispersion, probabilities, discrete random variables, continuous random variables, correlation, regression, discrete distributions and continuous distributions
- DATA INTERPRETATION (15 Marks)- tables, column graphs, bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts and Venn diagrams.
- ENGLISH (15 Marks)- vocabulary, errors, sentence correction, fill in the blanks, jumbled paragraphs, verbal reasoning, facts, judgments, reading comprehension and summary questions
- LOGICAL REASONING (10 Marks)- number and letter series, clocks, calendars, cubes, logical sequence, logical connections and blood relations.

No, ACET exam does not reserve any seats for people belonging to backward classes.

No, a student usually doesn’t require any coaching for its preparation. It is preferred for a student to give this exam without any help from coaching as this is just an entrance and checks the child’s ability to pursue actuarial science.

The passing marks are 50%.
- Is the exam conducted in offline mode also?
No, the exam is only conducted in online mode on the centre allotted.
